Press Release on the Escalation of Armed Conflict in Sweida

The Access Center for Human Rights (ACHR) raises deep concern over the escalating armed conflict in Sweida and condemns grave human rights violations — including hostage-taking, extrajudicial killings, attacks on residential areas, and destruction of civilian property.

ACHR unequivocally condemns all parties involved in the violence, warns against the use of sectarian rhetoric to justify foreign interference, and denounces the Syrian Transitional Government’s failure to protect civilians.

ACHR also reiterates its condemnation of Israel’s repeated airstrikes on Syria and calls for urgent international action to stop these violations and ensure civilian protection.

The Center affirms that the escalation of violence in Syria, alongside ongoing violations against Syrian refugees in Lebanon — including arbitrary arrests and forced deportations — are two sides of the same crisis that demand serious international action to uphold human dignity and rights.
