Joint Letter: Sanctions Relief for Syria

161 American, Syrian, and international humanitarian, civil society, advocacy, human rights, multifaith, professional, and community organizations and groups sent a joint letter to President Donald J. Trump, the heads of several U.S. Government agencies, and Members of Congress, urging immediate action to ease and lift sanctions on Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.
The organizations called for specific, urgent measures to be taken to address the country’s dire humanitarian and economic crisis:
• Expand Existing OFAC General Licenses (GL 22, GL 24, and Syria NGO License)
• Lift the Ban on U.S. Investments and Services in Syria
• Issue a Broad Export License Exception
• Temporarily Suspend Caesar Act Sanctions
• Resolve Compliance Contradictions and Provide Reassurances
