A group of Syrian organizations issued a statement regarding Decree No. (143) of 2025 issued by the Interim President of the Republic regarding the interim electoral system for the Syrian Parliament
The decree does not meet international standards for political participation, even though it was supposed to constitute a significant milestone in the political transition and open the door to free and fair elections.
The provisions of the decree reveal a profound structural flaw in the electoral system, making it far from guaranteeing the representation of the various components of the Syrian Parliament.
The statement also indicated that the signatory organizations presented a series of recommendations aimed at addressing these shortcomings and correcting the process to ensure broader participation in the political process.
