ACHR documents the cases of four Syrians who have recently returned to Syria following the fall of the Assad Regime in December 2024. The cases include Syrian returnees who have been detained with signs of torture, forcibly disappeared, or arbitrarily detained upon their return to Syria. Despite ongoing narratives portraying Syria as safe for return, these documented cases highlight the serious risks that continue to face returnees and, alongside other security risks, shape their willingness to return.
